Hobart C. “Hobie” Tomlinson – 10 times MCFI, FAAST Lead Rep., & DPE CSIP, BPPP – ATP Rated – AMEL, AMES, ASEL & ASES Hobie Tomlinson is a retired airline Captain who was with TWA (35 years) and American Airlines (2 years) He spent 14 years in the airline training department, including a stint as the TWA B747 Fleet Manager. After retirement he spent 8 years as a Training Captain and Director of Safety for a Part 135 Charter Company. He holds Type Ratings in Boeing 707, 720, 727, 747, 757 & 767, as well as Lockheed L1011, Cessna 560XL, and Bombardier CL604. He also holds Class Ratings at the ATP Lever for AMEL. AMES, ASEL, and ASES aircraft. He has been a CFI for 56 years, a DPE for 42 years and a MCFI for 18 Years, having logged 40,500 hrs, including 1028 North Atlantic Crossings and 15,500 hrs of flight instruction. Master Instructors is pleased to announce the designation of Raymond F. Spengler Jr. of Longview, Texas, as a Master Flight Instructor for the eighth time. A SAFE member (Society of Aviation and Flight Educators) and former member of the SAFE board of directors, Ray recently renewed his Master Flight Instructor accreditation through the Master Instructors LLC’s Master Instructors Continuing Education Program (MICEP). Ray has served in the Texas Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and is a FAASTeam Lead Representative in the FAA’s North Texas FSDO area. He is also the president of Skypark Aviation LLC (www.SkyparkFlying.com ), located at the East Texas Regional Airport (KGGG). With more than 11,000 hours of pilot time, he has specialized in primary, instrument, and advanced flight training for the last 19 years.
Master Instructors is pleased to announce the designation of Nicholas Marcantonio of Fleming Island, Florida, as a Master CFI for the first time. Nicholas is a U.S. Naval Officer who has flown more than 1650 hours in a variety of roles. He also is highly dedicated to serving his community through aviation. He has flown as an instructor in California, Alabama, Florida, and Japan, and has volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol for 13 years and counting.
