When Sandy and JoAnn Hill conceived the Master Instructor Continuing Education Program in 1995, which launched in 1997, they had no way of knowing that it would become the standard for measuring the professionalism and excellence of Aviation Educators everywhere that it has become.
When Sandy passed away, last year, JoAnn doubled down on making sure that the Master Instructor program would continue to be recognized as a confirmation that a Master Instructor epitomizes; “the best that the right seat has to offer” as well as the best Aviation Educator’s throughout the aviation education community. She knew that after twenty-five years it was time to let other’s shepard the MICEP program to greater success and recognition by all who choose teaching as a both a vocation and an avocation.
JoAnn made the choice to share her goal and commitment to excellence with the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators which has always supported and shares the same ideals. SAFE considered this a perfect fit to their stated mission of “inspiring professionalism throughout the promotion and recognition of excellence and enhanced education” and as a result has accepted the responsibility to provide the infrastructure and management of the MICEP Accreditation Program.
JoAnn is thrilled with this outcome and although she will not be involved with the day-to-day management of the Program she will continue to offer guidance and will stay involved as a member of the Board of Review.
On behalf of all Master Instructors and Aviation Educators please accept our sincerest gratitude for your vision and commitment to making us want to be the best we can be.
